Do you know who your representatives are in the NY Assembly and Senate? If you’re not sure, you can find out here and here. Some representatives are in favor of mandate relief and others are not. You can contact your representatives to find out where they stand. Most of them have websites on the Assembly and Senate sites – you may be able to find out there views there. But don’t hesitate to contact them directly – whether by phone, email, or personal appointment. Remember, they work for you!
It is so important that you reach out to your representatives to let them know that you want them to fight for mandate relief. It is much easier for any elected official to just go with the status quo. Many of them want mandate relief but don’t think the public is paying attention or will support them if it comes to a fight. Let them know that you will stand behind them! Other representatives would rather keep the status quo, but could be pressured to support mandate relief if they knew that their constituents were serious about it … serious enough to vote them out of office in the next election.
